What is acivir cream 5g ?

Acivir Cream 5 g is used to treat cold sores like fever blisters or other such blisters in adults. Acivir Cream 5g can be used on face and neck and lips. Acivir Cream 5g falls under the category of anti-viral medication known as synthetic nucleoside analogs.

Acyclovir Ointment is used to treat herpes in and around the genitals (this infection can have sores from genitals up to rectum).

It should be applied at the first outbreak of the sores or when the first symptoms are experienced. It does not cure the sores. It doesn’t prevent them also, helps to minimize the spread of the virus. It can still be spread from one person to another, irrespective of the application of the ointment or cream.

When is Acivir Cream prescribed ?

This cream is prescribed for cold sores which can be due to fever or any other reason. It is also prescribed to treat genital herpes.

How does it work ?

The topical application of cream helps in preventing the virus of herpes spread further. It should be applied frequently and only on the affected areas. Make sure use it only on the affected areas and not elsewhere. Herpes can quickly spread if proper precaution is not taken.

How to use Acivir Cream ?

A generic cream is applied locally for four days 3 hours apart, mostly six times a day. It should be used locally on any cold sore that has formed or seems likely to form. It can be applied anytime while there is an outbreak, but it works best when applied at the start of the outbreak. The early application helps in keeping the virus in check making sure that it doesn’t spread so that the outbreak regions remain limited. One needs to use Acyclovir tube precisely as directed by your doctor. After a four day course, your symptoms should overall improve. If there is no improvement, you need to contact your doctor immediately.
